Ultra-Trail Kosci Interview With Tom Landon-Smith

Mark Green
Tom Landon-Smith and his wife Alina started the Ultra-Trail Australia event (then known as The North Face 100) back in 2008 which has gone from strength to strength, now becoming the second biggest trail running festival in the world.
They moved to Jindabyne in the Snowy Mountains a few years ago, and Tom was assigned the task of designing the original courses for the Ultra-Trail Kosciuszko Events.
National Parks have been building a lot of new walking tracks in the area over the past 2-3 years, which has lead to some new and exciting course changes for the 2024 events.
My interview with Tom goes through each of the courses in detail, which will help you to understand what to expect on race day and can also be used to help shape your training for the event.
We start with some general questions about the trails, the elevation, the weather, the gradients, the cheese grater walkways and more.
Then we discuss each event individually.
If you want to jump straight to your event this is where to skip to in the video:
- Kosci30 – 28:30
- Kosci50 – 34:12
- Kosci100 – 35:10
- Kosci Miler – 38:55
Happy listening. I hope you enjoy it.
