A number of trail running events have a lot of stairs throughout the course. If your technique is not efficient when negotiating stairs – both upstairs and downstairs – you will be creating unnecessary fatigue in your muscles, and stress on your joints.

Make the stairs something to look forward to by improving your technique and powering past people during a race.

Practice makes perfect, so get out there regularly and focus on your technique until it becomes second nature.
