I often get asked if it is ok to shuffle when you run.

The answer: It depends on your speed.

If you are running at 6 min k’s or slower then shuffling is quite a good and efficient way to move. If you are running at 5:30 k’s or faster, then you’ll need to be picking your feet up more in order to be running efficiently.

I answer these questions and demonstrate a variety of different techniques in this video, so if you’ve ever wondered about whether or not you’re a shuffler – this will teach you everything you need to know.

If you want to improve your speed or your running technique then working on your cadence is a great place to start. Running at “the correct” cadence will help improve your running. Start working on your cadence now.
