Fixing awkward running form | Live running assessment (work in progress)

Mark Green
In this video, I take one of my physio patients through a real-time running technique assessment. We filmed outdoors to capture his natural stride and worked step by step on improving his form.
You’ll see four key stages:
- Original stride – self-taught style with high knees and heavy forefoot landing (causing an awkward look and inefficient mechanics).
- First adjustment – leaning forward and lifting the foot differently (helped posture, but cadence dropped too low).
- Cadence focus – working on quicker turnover, but this time the stride became too “shuffly.”
- Side-by-side comparison – original technique vs. adjusted technique with lower cadence.
This is very much a work in progress. I’ll be filming him again in a month to show how the small changes and consistent practice add up to a smoother, more efficient stride.
